Tridents Clubperson of the Year

Winner: Yvette Fisher

The Trident of the Year award is given to a member who is judged to be the Clubperson of the Year. For the first time, this decision has been made by the previous awardees.

In considering who would be presented with this award we looked at areas such as club spirit and pride, achievement of personal goals and achievement in events. Importantly, we also considered the other things that this person brings to Tridents.

This award is not all about winning races, but it is about rising to challenges and making significant improvements.

Our Trident of the Year for the 2009/2010 season embodies the spirit of a clubperson by doing things such as always packing up after races, volunteering on a regular basis and being a valued mentor and support person for new members.

This person is always around after training or a race for a chat and to support teammates.

Our awardee for 2009/2010 has faced significant personal and family issues and has done so with dignity whilst maintaining a strong commitment to the Club and to training.

This person organized accommodation in a number of venues for those who weren’t quite as well organized as they could be. They also assisted with some of our overseas athletes in a major way.

At local and national races, our Trident of the Year has excelled with a fantastic season. So much so that some overseas racing is now beckoning.

It is a big deal to be the Trident of the Year and something to be very proud of. The former awardees certainly considered this when making the decision about this year’s winner. Thomo once said that being a Trident was something very special – when you come off the bike you bleed yellow and black, Tridents is in your blood. This year’s winner is a Trident through and through and we are happy to acknowledge her with this award.

Tridents Awards - 2008/2009

The Tridents Awards Night was HUGE! With fantastic food, a great venue, tension and drama with awards voting and of course karaoke will it ever be possible to top it!?  Congratulations to the organising team and to our award recipients:

Best Injury (there are some people who find the ground a magnet for one reason or another and it seems impossible for use to make it through the season with out a few notable performances coming off their bikes ...)

 Nominees:

  • Jemani Francis

  • Grant Pettrie

Winner: Matt Hardy: to get through basically all of summer, then throw yourself down the road on one of the last Saturday rides for the season seems like an odd way to enjoy the break from training. And it made Greg very late for coffee.

Award Prize: A one hour massage from Phil Henderson at the ANU Massage Centre and some Hammer Nutrition energy bars donated by Michelle Wu.

Best Cheer Squad Member (anyone who has ever raced knows what a lift it is when someone in the crowd yells your name and starts cheering for you. With Tridents having a national reputation as fanatical cheerers it’s hard to pick one ...

 Nominees:

  • Jay Reid

  • Jo O’Dwyer

Winner: Craig Simonetto: Craig is the only person in the club who is deserving of this award.  In fact until he came out of retirement at Huski for his regular one race every three years, I thought he had taken up full time cheerleading.  Craig always knows how to spur you on when the going gets tough, whether it's a smart remark, encouraging comment, or just dancing around semi-naked.

Award Prize: A one hour message from Phil Henderson at the ANU Massage Centre.

Ever Ready Bunny (for keeping going when you really don't have to)

Nominees:

Kelsey Mulvihill

Shane Robinson

Winner: Davey Hamer: For his dogged determination to keep fronting up to Challenge Series races and face down the toughest competition we’ve seen in a National Series for many years and achieving representative status for the Australian Sprint Distance team.

Award Prize: Lonsdale St Cyclery Bike Service.

1.      NRMA (lending a helping hand when needed)

Nominees:

Bonnie Frankcom

Stephanie Reilly

Winner: Retlaw Crompton: Will lend anyone anything, and also will wash your hair – or something else as JR found out. No, truly, Retlaw is one of the best guys in the world and we all love his positive and infectious attitude.

Award Prize: A gift voucher to the Runners Shop in Phillip.

1.      Rookie of the Year (a 1st timer or new event to the list of achievements)

Nominees:

Phil Henderson

Dominic Aungles

Winner: Micarla Sexton: Micarla is a true inspiration, someone who trains and competes in triathlon with great spirit and always seems to do it with a smile on her face.  She manages to balance her work and fitness, along with training and racing. If we can just get use to swimming in the Lake then we will see even greater results next summer!

Award Prize: Bike service from the Bike Shop in Braddon.

1.      Most Improved (no explanation needed on this one)

Nominees:

Jac Lim

Carol Bruce

Winner: Beck Wiasak: Originally from a running background, now Beck is a 'real' triathlete who has chosen to expand her skill set and get three events right at once...rather than just the run.  Scoring a spot for Worlds in September shows just how far Beck has come in such a short space of time. Apart from all this, Beck also puts up with Howsie asking how his Garmin works at every session

Award Prize: Hammer Nutrition bike jersey donated by Michelle Wu.

1.      Veteran of the Year (It is an important dimension of our club that we have participants, fast ones at that, in nearly every age-group up to 60+. Our old boys & girls are role models to our younger members and a source of constant amusement and bad jokes but are huge contributors to the club

Nominees:

Aaron Broughton

Jon Howse

Winner: Grant Pettrie - all the 'Wise Monkeys', have won this award already; so surely we can recognise some new "old" blood in the club even though grant is only 55? Our star American import has also survived the best Australian race conditions thrown at him over summer (towering surf, rips and ocean currents, shark sightings on the swim course, rain and wind……and travelling and rooming with Retlaw in Cronulla……) - and he has done it all with a smile on his face.

Award Prize: Bike service from the Bike Shed in Braddon.

1.      Outstanding Achievement (Each season, we see many great performances, personal bests, national & international achievements, strange attempts, or just simply completing a race for the first time)

Nominees:

Michelle Wu

Josh Berry

Winner: Kat Baker: Kat returned home from the US last year with one goal – Busso Ironman. Anyone who knows Kat predicted she would go well. No one, not even Kat would have guessed she would go 9.42 and finish 3rd outright on debut. Watch out this December – Kat will be back and aiming for a sub 9.30. Her most outstanding achievement was discovering white wine as a recovery drink – something Sonja could have told her about ages ago. “Stuff the ice baths Coach, white wine is the way forward”. Too true Kat.

Award Prize: Gift voucher from the Runners Shop in Phillip.

The Big Kahuna - Tridents Club Person of the Year (award for overall club and athletic contribution)

Josh Berry

Our Trident’s Member of the Year encompasses the spirit and club ethos that we strive for as a club. Josh is a fantastic individual triathlete who races at a national level (6th u/19 Junior Elite at Canberra, 9th at Runaway Bay Junior Elite Super Sprint series, 10th at Husky Junior Elite, 13th at Hobart and finished of a ground breaking season with 3rd at Geelong to gain a spot on the Aussie Worlds team).

He shows great pride in being a Trident clubby, helping out at raffles, and will always offer a hand when needed. He was elevated to “saint” status one freezing morning last May when Coach made the Vancouver Worlds team swim in the 11 degree lake, ride and run. He and Bonnie showed up with an outdoor fire drum and proceeded to build a fire right next to transition to keep us warm. He wasn’t going to Vancouver so he could have been sleeping in!

Award Prize: Ryder sunglasses donated by Michelle Wu.

Tridents Awards – 2006

1. Best Injury (there are some people who find the ground a magnet for one reason or another and it seems impossible for use to make it through the season with out a few notable performances coming of their bikes ...)

 Honourable Mention:

Gerard Sweeny – not really a stack but finishing in hospital after the Sri Chimoy Triple tri with kidney failure is a good injury.

Jo O’Dywer – double somersault with a half twist onto another girl, who had just stacked, is always good form – the bad form is being in hospital in the week leading up to Xmas

Graham Reily – didn’t really have to poor the jug on his foot to get out of racing – he just need a dickie back, like he has now, to get out of it

Danni Copper – first novice race of the year. If you wanted to meet the bloke Danni you should have just introduced yourself – running over him was a little harsh

Kat Baker – almost the same stack as Danni just later in the year

Michelle Wu – falling off her roller blades hey ????

Award goes to Steve Baker – Its not like Ironman isn’t hard enough, but Steve decided to attempt it(for the 4th time) with a young family and a single focus which caused him to plow directly into a (very large) witches hat at the 35k mark of the Ironman ride. He’s still sporting the skin off but he does have his Ironman tat

 2. Best Cheer Squad Member (anyone who has ever raced knows what a lift it is when someone in the crowd yells your name and starts cheering for you. With Tridents having a national reputation as fanatical cheerers it’s hard to pick one ...

 Honourable Mention:

Husband, Wife, Partner, Family and Friend – for all the family supports, you do the toughest job of all. You have to listen to the good, the bad and every detail of the post race debrief – for days on end. Yep, you certainly deserve a pat on the back and a set of ear plugs

Chrissie Vander Hulst – cheering for all, all the time

Award goes to – everyone who loaded up for the trip to Comm. Games in Melb. Thomo was in awe at the number of friends, family and supporters who, at the very last minute, found the time and energy to get to Melb

 3. Ever Ready Bunny (for keeping going when you really don't have to)

 Honourable Mention:

Everyone who has trudged around a course while not having a great day

Marty Boyd, again, for not spitting the dummy in NZ duathlon champs and scoring his trip to Hawaii

Kat Baker, she never ever ever gets tired – true Eveready bunny stuff

Chrissie Vander Hulst, We knew Chrissie was made of stern stuff when she had to share a room with Karl, Trav & AB in Jindy last year. But after many hurdles this season (bung shoulder, hole in the ear drum and way too much work) she has been able to still show up for ridding most mornings – could be a bit tougher in Iraq so be safe and we look forward to you coming home to train with us again

Award goes to Andrew Terracinie – after the Ironman race report everyone felt for Terra, except for his brother, but he kept on going

 4. NRMA (lending a helping hand when needed)

 Honourable Mention:

Coach, because if he didn’t he would have to race again – what happened to that Ironman come back

Dave Hamer, once again last years Club Person of the year was always around to lend a hand or a kind word

Team Clark, there wouldn’t be anything Team Clark would say no to – hey Phil. We mean in terms of helping out that is

Award goes to Nicole Gallina for stopping and lending assistance during her race

 5. Rookie of the Year (a 1st timer or new event to the list of achievements)

 Honourable Mention:

Jason Foley, from racing his car to finishing the season at the National Champs – certainly a big year for a Rookie – Jas showed his true colors by not only racing well but being brave enough to go out with Phil & co

Award goes to Alexis Diamond for making the Canberra Half Iornman – not only in a respectable time but the entire time smiling and waving to her fan club. We won’t mention the semi retirement since then but hey, true super stars plot their own course coach.

 6. Most Improved (no explanation needed on this one)

 Honourable Mention

Alexis, yep she certainly improved – what can we expect this coming summer Alexis ?

Craig Simonetto, coming from our novice prog to stepping up to the “big group” is no easy feat – Craig has taken it all in his measured stride and even got around to racing a few times

Award goes to Michelle Wu for truly stepping from good performance on the local level last season to being National Champion and winning a number of National Series races – all while holding down a job, talking to the media and writing some great race reports

 7. Veteran of the Year (It is an important dimension of our club that we have participants, fast ones at that, in nearly every agegroup up to 60+. Our old boys & girls are role models to our younger members and a source of constant amusement and bad jokes but are huge contributors to the club

 Honourable Mention:

Jon Howse not only as the retired “statesman” and continual podium finisher but also the best joke teller and source of entertainment

The other Monkey’s as they call them selfs

Award goes to John Rogers for his outstanding, dominating, soul destroying, world class, inspirational, fleet footed, season ending performance in Hobart – must have been the new wheels

 8. Outstanding Achievement (Each season, we see many great performances, personal bests, national & international achievements, strange attempts, or just simply completing a race for the first time)

 Honourable Mention:

Michelle Wu for being winning her first National Champs, first across the line in Canberra, Hobart and Geelong National series races, dominating the local events

Simon Thomo for over coming a career threatening injury and coming good during the summer. This enabled him to take the reserve position for Comm. Games and well, the rest is history

Casey Guthrie, for coming from no where to winning in Mooloolaba

Azza Farlow, like Michelle was the first across the line in Canberra for his first National Series victory

Chris Connell & Marty Boyd for qualifying for the “big dance” in Kona – the Hawaii Ironman

Award goes to Katherine Baker. Not only did she win the World Championships in Hawaii last year, she capped off a great summer of domestic racing to clinch the National Championship in Geelong – How about that -- National & World Champion !

 9. The Big Kahuna -- Tridents Club Person of the Year (the award for overall club & athletic contribution)

Simon Thompson (word for word from Dot Foster) for setting a fantastic example to the rest of us at Tridents, for his wonderful, likeable attitude towards fellow club members, for being a fantastic role model and for his continued excellence in sport, despite the set-backs he has had to endure.

Tridents Awards – 2006/2007

 Honourable Mention:

 Award goes to:

 6. Most Improved (no explanation needed on this one)

Honourable Mention

Award goes to:

7. Veteran of the Year (It is an important dimension of our club that we have participants, fast ones at that, in nearly every agegroup up to 60+. Our old boys & girls are role models to our younger members and a source of constant amusement and bad jokes but are huge contributors to the club

 Honourable Mention:

Award goes to:

·         Kat Baker: 1st at Nowra, 1st at Newcastle and current World Champ – nuff said. Well not really, Kat also went on to step up to pro level racing. It was proving to be a tough debut but once we found out about the shingles it all made a bit of sense. We won’t even talk about the broken arm. The truth is Kat has the potential and commitment to be a super star – London here we come.

 9. The Big Kahuna -- Tridents Club Person of the Year (the award for overall club & athletic contribution)

 Award goes to:

·        Rob Marshall: Rob has been hampered by an ITB all season but that hasn’t stopped him from being at everything going on. If he wasn’t racing he has been looking through the camera lens. He’s been deciphering all of coaches crap emails and putting them on the website. He chased up his level 1 coaching accreditation and now coaches some juniors and is certainly a role model for our club – there can be no better person than Rob Marshall for this years Tridents Club Person of the year.

Tridents Awards – 2007/2008

1.   Best Injury/Accident Award

There are some people who find the ground a magnet for one reason or another and it seems impossible for use to make it through the season with out a few notable performances of people injured or coming off their bikes…

 Honourable Mentions in this category:

Elliott Gotovac: the world’s longest lasting Achilles injury

Paul Smith: the world’s longest lasting calf injury – same doctor as Elliott I think

Simon Thompson: slicing & dicing his big toe & foot in transition at Worlds in Hamburg – enough to put him out of the Olympic test event 2 weeks later

Retlaw Compton: after the usual stout lecture from Coach about the dangers of riding in the wet, he decided to take on the cheese-grater surface of Russell roundabout – with his chin. Ouch…I’m told he didn’t cry…much…

Yvette Fisher: the blister queen – after Newcastle & then Mooloolaba with blisters the size of my fist she decided that the shoes had to go, so…in the bin they went!

John Howse: falling off at traffic lights just to give Coach a breather

Jay Reid: Just in case Ironman was going to be easy, Jay decided to wrestle with his mate 2 weeks out and broken ribs were the outcome.  He still did a solid sub 13 hr Ironman. At least those tight shirts now have a purpose with holding the ribs in place.

 Award goes to:

Retlaw Compton

 2.     Best Cheer Squad Member Award

Anyone who has ever raced knows what a lift it is when someone in the crowd yells your name and starts cheering for you. With Tridents having a national reputation as fanatical cheerers it’s hard to pick one person and as usual there were a lot of...

 Honourable Mentions in this category:

Jo O’Dwyer: According to Jemani is a typical sports fan (really good when things are going well but fickle when things don’t go so well) – but to our way of thinking shows her true spirit by being there every time and knowing all the facts, figures and details about all things tri.

Hazel Wu: Without doubt, Michelle’s secret weapon and she does a great job of supporting everyone out on the course. At least Shell’s given her a bag with wheels to say ‘thanks Mum’!

Ben Gathercole: If you’re at a race attended by Coach you’re in no doubt of how you’re doing… whether a kind word or a scornful look – you won’t be in the dark about whether you’ve done well or badly – thanks coach for being at all those races…(I think)!

Aniva Cavanagh: flying to Hamburg to cheer on the Old Farts and just make sure that this “worlds gig” was something she ought to do

Award goes to, (in back to back awards for the second consecutive year):

 Jo O’Dwyer

 3.   Ever Ready Bunny Award

For keeping going when you really don't have to.

 Honourable Mentions:

Sonja Dyason: Works long hours, has a young family but still finds time for training. Yes, we know many of us do the same (such is the evolving dynamic of the Tridents membership – there wasn’t a child amongst us a few years ago!). But Sonja has to support the kids & Simon plus be the “rock” for many Tridents and the only one who can make Craig Simonetto go to training.

Yvette Fisher: After a full day’s work in the private sector (a tough deal as we all know) Yvette steps up to training for pro level racing with such little fluster it is a true inspiration. Yvette will surprise some seasoned pro’s this coming year with her strong swim, slick bike and determined run – things will just keep getting better.

Steve Baker: For all the bloody Ironman’s – Steve accomplished his goal of completing 10 Ironman events before turning 40 (so that’s worked out to be 10 in 3 years). His last was just last weekend at Port Mac, where he had to dig deep to finish in 13.09 and decided to hang up the Ironman boots for awhile…But wait, there’s more. Steve is lining up for Worlds in Vancouver. Does this man know when to stop? Rachel…?

Aaron Broughton – Sadly out of form and lacking in kilometres on the bike, AB pulled some big days in the hills over Xmas, which set him up perfectly for a strong day in the Victorian Alps at the Alpine Classic in Bright. AB was a true strong man over the 500 in 5 – he didn’t take Coach’s soft flat option, he stuck with the real course and reaped the benefits.

Michelle Wu – AB claims that his training regimen set Michelle up for another season of Australian Triathlon Series domination although we doubt how much he saw of her once she hit the road ahead – but he was out there and Shell most certainly was also

 Award goes to:

Steve Baker

 4.   NRMA Award

For always being there for H.E.L.P when needed

 Honourable Mentions:

Retlaw Compton: Lent Jemani his bike case on several occasions, always around to offer support, encouragement and well wishes to everyone. He helps with the meat raffle, he’s offered to donate a kitchen for the club to raffle, he turned up this week with a donated home trainer for one of our new members to use…Just don’t ask him to shampoo your hair…

David Hamer: A perennial nominee for this award - Apart from providing shelter to the temporarily homeless, David is always around helping out and willing to put up his hand no matter what the task.

Rob Marshall: For the never-ending work he puts into the Tridents website and all the other ways he helps out people in the club.

Graham Reilly: For being the permanent emergency stand-in for Friday night meat raffle when someone has something else come up and they can’t make it.

 Award goes to:

 Retlaw Compton

 5.   Rookie of the Year Award

Goes to the spectacular debut of a first timer or someone adding a new event to their list of achievements

 Honourable Mentions:

Gabrielle Dufty:  Stepping up to Olympic Distance, – Only thing between her and Vancouver was being born a little late. Winning National Champs in Huskisson and being named ACT Schools captain…and all this after coming back from three, yes three, broken arms.

Matt Shipard: Stepping up to Olympic Distance and winning the National Championships in Huskisson

Josh Berry:  For taking his triathlon to the next level

Michelle Wu: Competing in her first Half Ironman…and winning

Shelley Dorey: Completing her first Half Ironman

Sam Patterson: For a debut Ironman in a time of 11 hours 10 minutes

Jay Reid: For a debut Ironman (with broken ribs) finishing in a time of 12 hours 39 minutes

Jemani Francis: Making the step up to pro racing is never an easy task let alone doing it in an Olympic year (with all the hangers-on that involves), AND holding down a full time job AND proposing to Miss Carmen Brown for her hand in marriage – so truly a first timer and in a completely new event

Award goes to:

Jemani Francis

6.   Most Improved Award

No explanation needed on this one!

Honourable Mentions:

Dave Hamer: Lining up for his second dig at World Champs, Davie improved is performance this season to a point where we had no doubt he was going to make the team.

Retlaw Compton:1st Qualification for Worlds

Jo O’Dwyer: 1st Qualification for Worlds

Aniva Cavanagh: 1st Qualification for Worlds

Nevin Agnew: 1st Qualification for Worlds

Ntasha Gerebtzoff: Improved her bike riding and running out of sight

Josh Berry: 1st at ACT Sprint Champs & Sub 50min TT (he worked all summer to get that time) plus ACT Schools Captain

Jason Pye: See what happens when you join Tridents?  Enough said!

Alyce Hutchings: Stepped up from Group 2 to Group 1 and Coach doesn’t recall her ever missing a session.

Gabrielle Dufty: Her selection as captain for the ACT schools team caps off a huge season of improvement, including winning her age group at the Canberra ATS race (her first ever Olympic distance event) thus qualifying for Worlds, then backing this up in the hotly contested National Sprint Championships in Huskisson by winning and claiming her 1st National title

Mat Shippard: Matt has come from nowhere and claimed a National Championship. This show’s us all the depth of talent some of our young athletes have. Matt, we wish you a strong, consistent winter of training and another leap forward next season.

Award goes to:

Gabe Dufty

7.   Veteran of the Year Award

It is an important dimension of our club that we have participants, and some very fast ones at that, in every age group up to over 60. And as the club matures, the veterans just get stronger and stronger, (and older and older!) Our old boys & girls are role models to our younger members, a source of constant amusement and bad jokes, and huge contributors to the club.

Honourable Mentions:

Jon Howse – another Baggie Green (and I don’t mean his old swimmers) yes a further Australian Team membership for Naughty Jon, even if he can’t count laps and is the only Monkey to line up this year – will his “wise monkey” mates be back ? Hmmm

Graham Sproule: After all these years Sproulie lined up for another crack at a Half (70.3km)… Pain City was the way Sproulie described it – which is apt for some one doles out the pain everyday as a physio to the stars but,he’s still going faster than all those years ago!

Steve Baker: Not even 40 yet, so not technically a Veteran, but certainly a veteran of Ironman. But, can you still do the 4th leg Steve (I did NOT write that!)

The Other Three Wise Monkeys – John Rogers, Graham Reilly and Pete Clarke for their determination and commitment to World Championship preparations. They were truly inspirational – how come only Jon is going now!?

Award goes to:

Jon Howse

8.   Outstanding Achievement Award

Each season, we see many great performances, personal bests, national & international achievements, strange attempts, or just simply completing a race for the first time which is, in itself, outstanding for that person.

Honourable Mentions:

Brooke Niven: A top 10 finish at Worlds and the catch of the century!

Jon Howse: Counting the correct number of laps in Hobart with out Hopper.  Oh yeah, he also finished 2nd in his age group.

Liam Templeton: 4th in Hobart with a speedy 36.30 and 3rd in Husky. Liam has steely determination which will see him continue to improve.

Gabe Dufty: 1st at Husky and ACT schools captain

Kirra Rankin: 3rd female pro in Husky

Kelly Wapshott: A ring-in , but worth an honourable mention - Olympic Qualification for race walking - definitely the best performance of the season so far even if she’s not a triathlete!

Josh Berry: 1st at ACT Sprint Champs & Sub 50min TT (he worked all summer to get that time) AND ACT schools captain

Steve Baker: for all the Ironman races

Jason Pye: An amazing effort in NZ Ironman in atrocious weather (including a 3:20 marathon at the end!)

Jemani Francis: with a 3rd at Worlds

Jesse Featonby: A truly outstanding season including 1st Australian Sprint Champs, 2nd in Nowra and Perth, a nearly 1st in Hobart (thwarted by a lap miscount) and being competitive in the Victorian Gatorade Series. He also smoked a 32.20 10km run split which truly announced his credentials

Michelle Wu: Another Outstanding Season including 1st in:

Australian Duathlon Champs

Nowra ATS race

Newcastle ATS race

Canberra Half Ironman

Canberra ATS race

ACT Sprint Champs

Hobart ATS race

ACT Classic Champs

and 2nd in Perth, including two 10km run splits of 35.27 & 35.40

 Award goes to: Michelle Wu

9.   The Big Kuhuna -- Tridents Club Person of the Year

For overall club & athletic contribution

Past winners of this award have included:

2000     Darren Luskey

2001     Sam Robinson

2002     Michelle Gallen

2003     Judi Barton

2004       Aaron Broughton

2005       David Hamer

2006     Simon Thompson

2007     Rob Marshall

There are many people who put in an amazing amount of effort quietly, behind the scenes, to make a club like ours work, and to work consistently over time. You don’t always see them pounding out laps in the pool, or helping out on pool deck. You don’t necessarily see them putting up the tent or flipping bacon and eggs at a Coach’s breakfast.  They’re not first across the line, or even first in their age group. But they are often first to put up their hand when there is a hard job to do, or a job that no-one else wants that still needs to be done. They are the ones who’ll make the training session when it’s minus 4 and raining because they promised their mates they would. They don’t pick and choose how they will help, they are just there, solid as a rock, through thick and thin. They don’t ask or expect to be thanked and they never make a fuss over their contribution. Typically, they are unaware of or, at least, underestimate the extent and value of their influence. Such a person is our ‘Big Kuhuna’ this year.

Award goes to:

Graham Reilly: While Graham may have taken a sabbatical this year from racing he no less has been deeply involved at a club level, and this involvement is nothing new but something that has characterized his commitment to Tridents over many, many years.  . As true a gentleman and ‘good bloke’ as ever there was, Graham has at short notice, sold & supported the club raffle on many occasions. He has been a competitive age grouper and represented Australia at World Championships.  He has put his money where his mouth is and provided financial support to assist Simon Thompson and Coach work towards the Beijing Olympics. He has mentored Simon and helped him develop a strong local network of business support. He has been a member of the Tridents sponsorship sub-committee and provided valuable counsel to the committee and management of Tridents over the years. And yes, he will be a driving force of the “band” getting back together – we are sure the Monkeys will return!
